Studying the island and the bed and breakfast we knew it was close to the ferry landing. My family looked to travel away from the hustle of life to find this gorgeous 7700 square foot charming bed and breakfast tucked away on a remote island, sounded perfect! We had an easy time reserving our room on-line and we only really needed sleeping quarters, we're used to cabins and close quarters. BRING BUG SPRAY! Secret Tip: Ask about locals Bryan & Matt's famous massages to help you relax!… Read about Anishinaabe (Chippewa) culture before visiting so you can imagine how they lived as you tour the island. Ask about the local lighthouse and the McRae burial site. Carry your bicycle to help navigate the island for all of it's beauty and history. Ask for a tour to see Shelby's Emmy awards! The views are wonderful.

There are several rooms and many beds available for the entire family. I think Insel Haus is the Ritz Carlton of Bois Blanc Island. When you're on the island you're not in New York City. I imagine some would call it "dated" but I feel as if it's design and decor is a perfect fit. (Tip: Make sure to stock up on snacks/drinks/meal prep as the island prices are for convenience.) There is a large kitchen available for meals. Location is perfect as it is close to the ferry terminal and the only two restaurants on the island. If you find yourself planning a trip to Bois Blanc Island this is the place to stay.

You won't find many places with more character than Insel Haus.
